Macbook Pro Firewire Port

In the research I did, it looks like FireWire is the only way to do a 'perfect quality' transfer, correct? I still have the original camera used to film all of these mini-DV tapes. It is a JVC GR-D370U. The SSD I chose has FireWire 800 to provide a fast-enough connection to my Mac mini, plus USB 3.0, so I can use it with the next Mac I buy. USB 2.0 is too slow, and I lacked USB 3.0. I have an older Canon Mini-DV camera and the process was quite painless when I brought the video in to my Mac. Obtain the necessary firewire cable to connect your camera to your Mac. Honestly, this was the hardest part for me.
